SPIRITUAL LIFE

As our founder Yvonne Streit is fond of reminding us, “God is the true founder of Brookwood. I just work for Him.”

God-Centered

We are indeed a God-centered community. We also understand that while our Citizens may have intellectual, mental or physical disabilities, they do not have spiritual disabilities and have been gifted by God to serve Him and others. Therefore, we are committed to providing the best possible spiritual environment for adults with disabilities and to sharing that environment with the world!

Spiritual Rhythm

Our weekly Spiritual Life rhythm consists of the following, with all components reinforcing our devotional thought of the week:
  • Sunday Worship (led by our Citizens)
  • Devotional email to all Community Members
  • Daily work program devotionals led by work program teachers
  • Daily home devotions led by home teachers
  • Wednesday Bible Party
In addition, the following is available on campus for all Citizens and Community Members:
  • Quarterly All-Community Worship services
  • Group Bible studies
  • Spiritual Life library
  • Campus pastor provides spiritual leadership, counseling, and coaching

Missions

Citizens have a genuine desire to serve God through serving others. They are active participants in Meals on Wheels, ALS Ice Bucket Challenges, buying food for the local food bank, making cards and crafts for local nursing homes, and are prayer warriors for all in need.

HOW YOU CAN SERVE

We would welcome you or your church group to serve in leading worship, reading Scripture, offering up prayers, preparing devotional materials, and much more!
