The Brookwood Community is seeking qualified candidates for its Controller position. The Controller will lead all day to day financial operations of the 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, including functional responsibility over all accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and funds administration. The Controller will ensure that correct systems and procedures are in place to support effective program administration and provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight to the business operations of the Community.

Areas of responsibility include financial control; general accounting, reporting and analysis; budget monitoring and investment management. This position serves to protect Brookwood’s assets – financial, physical, and reputation – and establishes high expectations for the conduct of Brookwood’s financial and administrative affairs, and ensures strict adherence to these standards.

The Controller provides direct supervision to the business office staff. This includes providing work direction for the Business Office for adherence to accounting policies and procedures, internal controls, business policies, financial reporting and stewardship information, cash management, and investment monitoring.

Requirements for this position include a minimum 4-year undergraduate degree in accounting or finance required (or the equivalent in graduate studies) with 5 years progressive experience in the supervision of an accounting/finance function. CPA certificate is desirable but not required. Should be familiar with not-for-profit accounting procedures and software, and Microsoft Office. Intermediate level Excel skills are essential.

Individual must have good interpersonal and leadership skills, which include strong oral and written communications, possess initiative and drive, and above all be results oriented. Must have strong deductive reasoning ability and strong problem solving capabilities. The work environment is a fast-paced changing environment requiring the ability to focus on and resolve multiple tasks and issues while working with frequent deadlines.
