The Brookwood Community currently has an opening for a Full Time Sculptor/Artist. This position is responsible for the design and creation of origin three dimensional art works, utilizing any combination of mediums, methods, and techniques for the production of Brookwood products. Production pieces are currently made in ceramics, stonecast and cement, but may not be limited to these mediums. A thorough knowledge of wheel throwing, hand-building/sculpture, mold making, glaze and clay formulations and kilns are utilized and considered in creating production pieces.
Applicants must be able to work expeditiously and efficiently to maintain production goals and special orders and to meet deadline schedules. Successful candidates must be able to interact effectively with others, be flexible, be responsible and contribute as a team, be willing to take on responsibilities and assist in shared workloads.
A bachelor’s degree (BA) in Art or Design, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination or education and experience in production design is required. Some experience with casting in cement or plaster or familiarity with the casting process is preferred.
